While cruising along I bumped into this site. I noticed the main page could use a little overhaul, as well as adding a background and .png wordmark. Essentially I'd like to keep as much of the page intact as possible to preserve the spirit of the wiki ;)
Sounds fine with me. I'm not active around here, just check messages every once in a while. May need to check if any of the active admins have any suggestions. Otherwise, have fun with it :) Email me if you have any issues, email is on my profile.
I'm all for a good spiffing. While I do commit a lot of my activity on the DoA wiki to adding information and keeping it updated with the latest changes, I do go over several pages and attempt to organize and revise the information. As far as graphics and details go, I haven't experimented enough to do much myself, but I would love to see wiki staff change things up a little and give the wiki (especially the home page) a new look. :)
I'll comment again later on today after I get off from work and have time to look over the wiki again. I may have a few ideas on what could be changed/redone.
I explained how to do it on this forum post, click the blue link (on the forum post) to go to your global.js and edit it like any other page because these are java script tools... Then you will open the "WHAM" link and scroll down to the bottom of that page, it has a small line of text... copy and paste that onto your global.js and publish the changes. Then completely close your broswer and re-open so that everything is reset.
If you are not an admin, you may not be able to use them though. If you are active on this wiki I'll make you an admin when you have been around for a few weeks or have a lot of good edits. My email address is on my profile.
sorry it took me so long to reply i am at work and i had two days off tomorrow is christmas and i have 2 weeks off... soo i mite not be able to reply until im back at work......but i will try to reply back somehow.
I have trained: LBM, AT's, Giant's, Spy's, SSD's, BD's, Halberdsman, and Minotaur's
Old question, but I would. Having a seperate page for each thing makes it easier to search. Just add links between similar topics like from Frost Dragon to the Battle Arts item etc... I don't know much about these new things, I haven't logged into DoA in a long time now haha.
We need to make a plan for spammers. One option would be to notify Wikia and ask them to sort it out, another would be to close the Wiki for a few days to hope they get bored of us. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks
Most of them are banned and as far as I know the damage is prepared. We could put the most important/not subject to change pages under protection, but that isn't a great idea because they don't get updated.
One spammer got banned across all wikis, letting Wikia know tends to get it to work. Usually there isn't much spam and its easy to delete, today was bad but it got fixed fairly quickly.
WHAM tools are awesome, I only used them twice but they got it done. The problem is there were at least 5 different accounts doing edits which made it kind of tedious.
Sorry so late, busy with work. Use WHAM tools, I made a forum post about how to get it set up a while back. You can literally block and remove all posts from 1 person in 3 clicks. And you can't close a wiki on wikia without having it deleted all together which is not an option lol.
If it gets too bad email me and I'll block them all email@example.com
I'm not sure of how to ban people, though I wish I did... I'm getting the same hate speechs spamming the bloody hell out of my wall, and seeing as others have been getting the same thing is a shame. It's also sickeningly inappropriate... despite DoA being played by many teenagers and adults, there's no denying that it's "designated" for kids, and they, above all others, do not need to hear/see such things.
And Lurk (do you mind if I call you that?), I really think we need to change the wiki settings to where only members can make posts. It won't completely eliminate the occasional spam, but it would help.
